Beige interiors and safe neutrals have been the overarching interior design trend in homes for the past few years. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this, and when done well they can be striking, we have perhaps become too reserved when playing with colour. Walking into a space designed by Timothy James Interiors feels like a breath of fresh air. While minimalism has its place, we’ve been itching to see more personality, vibrance, and daring colour palettes in modern homes.

Rooms designed by Timothy James Interiors are bold and exciting. Their expert use of colour brings character and confidence to a room without feeling overbearing or loud. Unique artworks are placed strategically and custom-made upholstery in luxuriously textured fabrics anchors the space, building interiors that feel functional, comfortable and individual to the homeowner. Whether it’s the whole house or one single room, each project by Timothy James Interiors has its own distinct identity.

With a background in fine art it’s clear that Tim Burden, the designer behind the interior design studio, has an eye for colour and placement. He creates his interiors with the intention of arousing the senses, playing with a blend of colour and texture. Throughout his years in interior design, he has built a team of independent artisans and bespoke makers, including fine artists, upholsterers, curtain makers and joiners. By working with this team Tim can bring his designs to life, just the way he visualised them.

Not only do we share a passion for beautifully designed interiors, but we also share localities. Timothy James Interiors have a studio in Bath and Richmond, covering much of the same ground as our showrooms in Bath, Bermondsey, and Wimbledon. Seeing our products within their expertly curated, high-energy interiors has been a huge pleasure.

Timothy James Interiors supplied the &Tradition Wulff ATD2 Lounge Chair from us. Within a relaxed lounge area, the tactile nature of the sheepskin upholstery plays off against the wood cladding and tiling on the walls and parquet flooring to create a room of layered textures.

Behind the Wulff Lounge chair, they have placed a Bert Frank floor lamp, drawing the eye to this cosy corner. The artworks have been carefully chosen to pick out and highlight the colours used within the room, tying each furniture piece and detail together.

On an opposite corner of the room, a Vitra Eames Lounge Chair quietly elevates the space with its design prestige. For those in the know it’s a symbol of expertise, and for those who don’t, it’s a welcoming seat. The furnishings have a slight mid century feel to them; made contemporary by the surroundings they sit within.

Although there are a lot of different elements at play within the room, Tim has kept the space open and calm. Each detail is balanced and works in harmony within the space.

In an open, modern kitchen, a Case Furniture Cross Extended Dining Table (sourced from us) fills the space as if it were made for the room. The proportions are well balanced, and the sturdy frame anchors the dining area. A minimalistic linear pendant light is placed over the dining table, creating a zoned atmosphere – an inviting spot for friends and family to gather.

The linear pendant mirrors the clean, architectural design of the kitchen units. Tim has once again chosen a colour that works in harmony with the setting. Subtly expressive here, the walnut of the table and kitchen units tone in beautifully with a pop of dark red. This in turn contrasts with the green planting. It creates drama whilst still looking earthy and natural, bringing the space to life.

An interior designed by Timothy James Interiors is never about following trends for the sake of it. Instead, it’s about creating something that feels considered, personal, and built to be enjoyed. The choices made within each space, from bold colour pairings to carefully sourced furniture, reflect a confidence that comes from experience. There’s a clear understanding of how people live in their homes and how design can enhance that without ever feeling overdone.

For us, seeing pieces like the &Tradition Wulff Lounge Chair or the Case Cross Extended Dining Table used in this way is a reminder of what good design can do to an interior. Although beautiful on their own, once placed within a setting, these products become part of a bigger picture. Alongside the right materials, lighting and artwork, they help shape spaces that feel both functional and emotionally engaging.

If you’re drawn to interiors that feel bold yet balanced, expressive yet liveable, Tim’s work is well worth exploring further. You can discover more of his projects and approach at Timothy James Interiors, and if something here has caught your eye, you can find the featured pieces on our website.
