This is what we intended when dreaming up the idea for our Darwin Sofa Collection, created exclusively for Holloways of Ludlow. Developed over twelve months of collaboration between Mark Holloway and a leading British manufacturer, the design has been distilled to its essentials: generous comfort, understated elegance, and materials chosen with care.

The inspiration lies close to home. Named after Charles Darwin, who was educated in Shropshire, the collection carries a sense of local heritage and a pursuit of constant refinement.
Handmade in the UK using sustainably sourced materials, each piece reflects the best of British manufacturing. Frames are constructed from solid hardwood and high-grade plywood, while cushions combine a foam core with duck feather and fibre fillings. This balances structure with softness. The reassurance of a 20-year frame guarantee, the option of hypoallergenic fibres and the promise of longevity makes the Darwin an excellent choice for luxury living.

What gives the collection its distinctive character is the fabric we have chosen. Rich velvet and tactile bouclé are two materials that lend themselves to both formal and relaxed settings. We opted for a subdued colour pallet that leans toward neutral earthy tones, designed to complement existing interiors rather than dictate them. Matching or contrasting cushions can be added as an extra, providing subtle opportunities to personalise.
The Darwin range is generous in scale and scope. Options include three, four and five-seater sofas, a chaise configuration, a lounge chair and a footstool. The collection is designed to fit in any sized home, with pieces that work together to form a complete living space, or used individually where space is more limited. Each shares the same design language: calm lines, contemporary styling and a sense of inviting comfort.
This collection is designed for living but, just like everything at Holloways of Ludlow, importance has been placed on the small details and aesthetic qualities. We are delighted that our Darwin 3 Seater Sofa has been recognised by The English Home, winning Best Sofa for Quiet Luxury in their Best Sofas for 2025 review.
