Riva 1920 is an Italian furniture maker that’s been around since, you guessed it, 1920. They work almost entirely with solid wood and build everything by hand in their workshop in Cantù. Nothing is mass produced. Every piece is made to order, and if you need something changed—size, wood type, finish—they’re usually happy to do it.
The furniture’s simple, well made, and built to last. You’re not getting flat-pack here. This is the kind of stuff that feels solid, like it’s meant to stick around for a lifetime.
They also care about how things are sourced and made. A lot of the wood they use is reclaimed, and they avoid harsh chemicals—just natural oils and waxes to bring out the grain.
If you’re after proper, handmade furniture with a bit of soul, Riva’s a good place to start.
