Design House Stockholm Layer High Sideboard

The Design House Stockholm Layer High Sideboard is a contemporary sideboard by Mathieu Gustafsson that balances open and concealed storage through a series of carefully positioned openings. Created for Design House Stockholm, it offers a clean, understated silhouette while allowing just enough of the contents to remain visible, giving the piece its own quiet sense of character.

Oak veneer is arranged in contrasting horizontal and vertical grain patterns to emphasise the geometry of the cabinet, while the solid oak base provides a strong foundation. Instead of handles, discreet openings in the doors allow them to slide open and closed, keeping the surfaces uninterrupted. The combination of precise proportions and thoughtful detailing gives the sideboard a distinctive appearance without relying on unnecessary decoration.

Suitable for living spaces, dining rooms, offices and hospitality settings, the Layer Sideboard offers practical storage while contributing to the overall feel of a room. It works just as well placed against a wall as it does where the back remains on show, making it a versatile choice for open-plan interiors. Whether storing tableware, books or everyday essentials, it keeps belongings neatly organised while leaving a subtle glimpse of what sits inside.
