Knoll Platner Coffee Table | Holloways of Ludlow

The Knoll Platner Coffee Table, designed in 1966, embodies the "decorative, gentle, graceful" aesthetic that reshaped modern design. Warren Platner’s vision transformed industrial steel wire into sculptural furniture that earned the collection the American Institute of Architects International Award.

The table’s distinctive base is crafted from hundreds of vertical steel rods that are welded to a circular horizontal frame. This construction provides both strength and a visual lightness. The frame is also available in a rather luxurious 18 Karat Gold Plated option, plated nickel with a clear lacquer coating, or a bronze metallic painted finish.

The table rests on a clear plastic ring on the bottom to ensure a smooth surface, protecting floors while improving stability. The table’s surface is available in bevel-edged plate glass or coated marble, adding a more refined touch to its architectural form. Perfect for residential spaces, lounges, or offices. For those seeking a quicker delivery, the Polished Nickel base with a Clear Glass top is available within just two weeks via the Knoll Quickship programme.
