To celebrate 70 years of collaboration between Carl Hansen & Søn and Hans J. Wegner, designer Ilse Crawford reinterprets the CH24 Wishbone Chair in nine soft, matte colours. The Soft Edition uses non-toxic, water-based paints that add depth while allowing the natural beauty of the FSC-certified beech wood grain to shine through.

The Wishbone Chair is defined by its iconic steam-bent top rail and the characteristic Y-shaped back that provides comfortable support. Inspired by Chinese Ming Dynasty chairs, Wegner’s mid century, Danish design marries the backrest and armrest into a single, sculptural piece. It remains a globally recognised icon of Scandinavian design.

Authentic craftsmanship is central to this piece, requiring over 100 steps to manufacture. The seat alone is hand-woven by skilled artisans using 120 metres of paper cord, ensuring impressive durability and stability. This process creates a long-lasting designer dining chair, a true collector's item.

Available in nine curated colours (Black, Natural White, Orange Red, Olive Green, Anthracite Grey, Silver Grey, Soft Blue, Green and Red Brown) the CH24 Soft Wishbone Chair offers a contemporary twist on a classic. Each chair features a choice of a natural or black paper cord seat, so you can really tailor the chair to suit your décor. These versatile wooden dining chairs look beautiful set around a large dining table or placed alone as an accent chair.

As an official UK supplier of Carl Hansen & Søn, we provide the authentic CH24 Wishbone Chair with a 5-year warranty. This iconic design balances function with timeless style, making it ideal for modern living spaces. Discover the classic design and other limited-edition variations in our Carl Hansen CH24 Wishbone Chair Collection.

The CH24 Soft Coloured Wishbone Chair offers a way to introduce colour into a dining room while retaining the craftsmanship of Hans J. Wegner's original design. Its matte painted frame pairs naturally with timber dining tables and contemporary furniture, making it suitable for both coordinated dining sets and individual accent seating.
