Anglepoise Desk Lamps

The Anglepoise desk lamp is a classic example of iconic British industrial design, offering a sophisticated alternative to static office lighting. By utilising a unique constant-tension spring mechanism these lamps provide flexibility, allowing you to direct light exactly where it’s needed. Our curated collection features the full evolution of the Anglepoise lamp from the very first model, the original Anglepoise 1227, to the sleek, modernist lines of the Anglepoise Type 75.

The Benefits of an Anglepoise Desk Lamp

Good lighting in the workspace makes productivity easier. An industrial desk lamp like the Anglepoise offers a level of movement and flexibility that fixed lighting cannot match. Whether you are seeking a vintage desk lamp aesthetic to complement a traditional study or a contemporary accent for a minimalist workspace, these designs are as much sculptural objects as they are functional tools.

The popularity of the Anglepoise lamp is driven by its "human" movement. The original 1935 mechanism mimics the fluid motion of a human arm, ensuring the light remains perfectly balanced without the need for constant adjustment. Crafted from high-grade aluminium and cast iron, these lamps provide flicker-free lighting that enhances productivity and uplifts your workspace.

Performance & Functionality

An Anglepoise desk lamp is designed to last for generations. Each design features a robust shade that prevents glare, paired with a heavy-duty base for stability. These lamps are built to withstand the rigours of daily use. Most models are compatible with modern LED bulbs, offering high-efficiency output while maintaining the warm, inviting glow that Anglepoise is famous for.

Showroom tip: Position your desk lamp on the opposite side of your writing hand to eliminate distracting shadows. Choose an Anglepoise desk lamp in a brightly coloured finish to bring a bit of personality to your workspace.
